The college's Northwest Florida Youth Orchestra, featuring a talented group of more than 50 young musicians from Okaloosa, Walton and Santa Rosa County schools, will perform their Spring concert on Sunday May 16 at 3:00 p.m. in the mainstage auditorium of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center. This full orchestra features some of the regions finest young musicians ranging from 4th to 12th grade. The concert is free of charge.
Both the NFSYO and the Junior Youth Orchestra are sponsored by Northwest Florida State College, the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra Guild and supported by individual contributions. Both groups are under the direction of Liz Aylor, a former member of the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra and the Pensacola Symphony. Both youth orchestras promote optimum musical development of young musicians through the study and performance of quality orchestral literature.
