Art Gallery Docents Needed for OWC Arts Center
Mattie Kelly Arts Center
6/14/06 - The Arts Center at Okaloosa-Walton College's Niceville campus is seeking volunteer docents to assist at the center's two art galleries. Docents help enhance the viewing experience of art gallery visitors by offering information and insight into the current exhibitions and permanent collections. Docents do not need to be art experts. Docents receive training from the Gallery Director including workshops on the college's permanent art collection, special exhibitions and art techniques. Docents may participate in organized trips to local and statewide museums, galleries and artists' studios and have access to an exceptional library of resource materials and books. In addition, docents who volunteer to work the night of an Arts Center performance may receive complimentary admission to the show on a space available basis.
Docents select the times they would like to work during the galleries' regular hours; Monday through Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and Sundays from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. The Galleries are closed most holidays. The Art Center Galleries are also open 90 minutes prior to performances at The Arts Center.
