One Millionth Parton Enjoys OWC Mattie Kelly Arts Center

Mattie Kelly Arts Center

7/26/07 - Giselle Alvarez of Navarre was recognized July 20 as the one millionth patron to enjoy cultural activities at the Mattie Kelly Fine and Performing Arts Center at Okaloosa-Walton College. The $25 million-dollar arts complex on the OWC Niceville campus first opened in January 1997. The center features an annual series of nationally touring Broadway shows, is the home venue for the Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra at OWC, provides state-of-the-art facilities for students of the fine and performing arts, and houses two art galleries, an amphitheater, and more.

Alvarez was attending a performance of the OWC summer musical production of "Anything Goes" when she was tapped as the millionth arts patron. She received an engraved crystal memento and season tickets to the center's upcoming Broadway season from Mattie Kelly Arts Center Executive Director Dr. Cliff Herron and OWC college president Dr. Bob Richburg. For information about the upcoming season, see the Mattie Kelly Arts Center website at www.owc.edu/arts. Season tickets for the general public go on sale August 27 for the 2007-08 season that includes the national tours of Evita, STOMP, Annie, Hal Holbrook as Mark Twain, The Producers, Movin' Out, Ring of Fire, 3 Mo' Divas, and Grand Folklorico de Mexico. Contact the Box office at (850) 729-6000.
