4/1/2014 - Flute Ensemble Celebrates 20th Anniversary with Free Concerts: April 12 at Westwood & April 19 in Tyler Recital Hall

The"Flutes Furioso" ensemble of Northwest Florida State College will perform twice in free concerts in April. The flutists will perform on Saturday, April 12, at 1:00 pm in the atrium of The Meridian at Westwood (formerly Westwood Retirement Resort) at 1001 Mar Walt Drive in Fort Walton Beach, and again on Saturday, April 19, at 2:00 pm at the Tyler Recital Hall, in the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on the college’s Niceville campus. Both concerts are free of charge and open to the public.

This is the 20th Anniversary Season for “Flutes Furioso.” In celebration, they will premiere a new original piece by local composer, C. Cole Early, written especially for this anniversary. Other pieces to be performed at the concerts will be both original works for flute choir, and popular arrangements.

Flutes Furioso is comprised of some of the area’s best high school, college and adult flutists, and uses several different members of the flute family, including alto and bass flutes. 2014 members include: C. Cole Early and Natalie Keith of Crestview; Emily Anderton, Denise Fitzpatrick, Laura Harber, and Mikayla Timm, of Niceville, and Kate Brotherton and Mikaella Weaver of Shalimar.
