Arts and Design Society 21st Southeast Regional Juried Fine Arts Exhibition, and 2012 Best-in-Show Winner, Pat Kumicich April 21 through May 31

The Arts and Design Society of Fort Walton Beach, Inc. presents the 21st Southeast Regional Juried Fine Arts Exhibition in the McIlroy Gallery at the Mattie Kelly Fine & Performing Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College. This competitive exhibition perennially attracts top artistic talent from across the southeastern United States and showcases works in a variety of media. This year's juror is Joe McFadden, a Tallahassee-based painter whose works reside in private and corporate collections all over the United States.

The Holzhauer Gallery will feature the 2012 ADSO Best-in-Show winner, Pat Kumicich. Kumicich's mixed-media textile arts bring a contemporary sensibility to traditional quilting techniques in works addressing pop culture, current events, and the human condition. By using a variety of fabrics, threads, and textures, she creates art quilts which are easily recognized by their vibrant colors and rich textures. Kumicich holds her City and Guilds Certificates in Patchwork and Quilting from the London Institute of Arts, and her work has been published and exhibited internationally.

An artists' reception and awards ceremony will be held in the galleries on Sunday, April 21, 2:00 to 4:00 p.m. The event is free and open to the public. The galleries are open free of charge Monday to Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. and from 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. prior to performances in the Mattie Kelly Arts Center theaters. The galleries are also open by appointment for classes or groups.
