NWF State College Dance Program proudly presents Dance Facets 2012, April 20 & 21 at 7:30 p.m.

2/24/2012 - The Northwest Florida State College's Division of Humanities, Fine and Performing Arts dance program is excited to offer an evening of beauty and grace in their annual presentation of Dance Facets 2012 on the Mainstage of the Mattie Kelly Arts Center in Niceville. In this year's performance on April 20 and 21, with 34 dancers who will perform seven original dance presentations featuring: contemporary ballet, modern, jazz and tap.

The 34 NWFSC dancers include from Niceville - Donovan Black, Hector Delgado, Annabelle Dunbar, Chloe Hagle, Michelle Hebert, Marcus Hector, Katie Moore, Shannon Mosley, Sharon Patterson, Rita Ramsey, Jamie Roberts, Arden Robertson, Carla Von Kaenel, Rebecca Wheeler, and Lizzie Wilson; from Shalimar - Nate Beechum and Mary Rodgers; from Fort Walton Beach - Ashley Carter, Sarah Hawn, Charlotte Hook, Rebecca Jollie, Natalie Lirette, Xaviera Murdock, Barclay Nichol, Tim Smith, Albert Sousa IV, Lyndsi Stevens, Amie Urban, Melissa Wade, and Quentin White; from Navarre – Vini Febus; from Pensacola – George Frye; from Destin – Savannah Lewis; and from Crestview – Hannah Teal.

The evening of family entertainment with Dance Facets 2012 begins at 7:30 p.m. on both April 20 and 21. Tickets are $15 adults and $10 youth ages 18 and younger. To purchase tickets, call the Mattie Kelly Arts Center box office at 729-6000 or visit Monday through Friday, 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. The box office also opens at 6:00 p.m. each night of the performance. NWFSC students may request one free ticket per student ID, in person from the box office for this event.

Joining NWFSC's dancers this year is the SWERVE Dance Company – the resident dance company of Pensacola State College, under the direction of LaVonne French and Elizabeth Bradford. SWERVE will bring two pieces to the stage, including their brand new work Jeanne d'Arc, choreographed by Nannette Grimm, with special lighting effects designed by NWFSC students and staff.

Audiences can also expect to be energized and entertained with choreographic works entitled: Canticle of the Sun, A Different Drum, Blessings, Coming Home, Sansei, Tron, Work In, Play Out, and A Vision of End Times.

The synergistic combination of dramatic music, ethereal lighting and emotional dance culminates to present artistic interpretations about social realities as well as fantasies. An eclectic array of musical styles, including Bach, Vivaldi, Peter Gabriel, Daft Punk, Bobby McFerrin, and an original score by Anthony Borella will be featured just to name a few.
