National Touring Children's Musical May 3 at Mattie Kelly Arts Center

Mattie Kelly Arts Center

4/21/2011 -

Three children's classics by Mercer Mayer come to life on Tuesday, May 3 at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center at Northwest Florida State College in Niceville when the national touring production of "ALLIGATOR UNDER MY BED, NIGHTMARE IN MY CLOSET, AND SOMETHING IN MY ATTIC" appears in two day-time performances at 9:45 am and 11:30 am. The one-hour show is recommended for ages 3 to 9 but is open to all for just $6 per ticket. For group reservations, contact Delores Merrill, House Manager, at merrilld@nwfsc.edu or 729-6065. All others may pay at the door day of show, no advance individual tickets.

The Omaha Theater Company's original musical production is designed with vivid and imaginative costumes and scenery, where the Alligator under your bed, the Nightmare in your closet and the Thing in your attic become your best friends. How does the little boy get over that big alligator that lives under his bed? Or another child command his toy soldiers to protect him from the Big Nightmare that lives in his closet – or is it the Big Nightmare that needs to be protected? And, what about the little girl who lassoes the Silly Scary Thing that livers in her farmhouse attic? What would you do?

The musical is based on the books written and illustrated by Mercer Mayer and adapted for the stage by Omaha Theater Company. Established in 1949 as the Junior Theater, the Omaha Theater Company is one of the oldest and most well respected children’s theaters in the nation. Its performances are renowned for their quality and artistic achievement, as well as their educational value. The Theater serves more than 300,000 children and adults each year at home at The Rose Theater and on national tour, where it travels to an average of 80 cities each season.
