NFSO Concerto Competition Finalists Named Young Musicians Perform Oct. 16 in Competition Finals Open to Public

The Northwest Florida Symphony Orchestra (NFSO) and the Northwest Florida Symphony Guild announce the finalists in the 24th annual Concerto Competition for young musicians. The public is invited to attend the final round of the competition at which all finalists will perform on Saturday, October 16 at 10:00 a.m. in the Tyler Recital Hall at the Mattie Kelly Arts Center on the colleges Niceville campus. Admission is free of charge.

The NFSO Concerto Competition provides a venue for middle-school through college age performers of orchestral instruments, keyboard, or voice to showcase their skills. Winners are chosen by a panel of judges, receive cash prizes ranging from $500 to $1,500, and are invited to perform with the NFSO at the symphony's annual concerts in February for all fifth-grade students in Okaloosa and Walton County. Winners may also perform with the symphony at the NFSO's evening "Stars of Tomorrow" performance for the public on February 25, 2011.
