NWF State College Dance Ensemble Selected
Mattie Kelly Arts Center

6/9/2009 - The Raider Rhythms dance ensemble of Northwest Florida State College announces the sixteen dancers selected through audition for the 2009-10 performance year. The Raider Rhythms is now in its 18th season at the college and is under the direction of Joseph Taylor, NWFSC Assistant Professor of Dance.
Taylor noted that he is excited to work with such a large group. ''I don't believe that we have ever had a team this large before,'' Taylor said, ''and I think it is beginning to speak for the level of quality that we offer here at NWFSC.''
Selected were:
Crestview - Marissa Curran, Ashley Gaston, Kayla Shaefer, Kristen Stepson
Fort Walton Beach - Roxanne Curtis, Natalie Fowler, Melissa Gaccione, Annie Gornall, Katie Robison, Jennifer Travis
Navarre - Candace Isaacs
Niceville - Kelly Friedman, Christina Sherritze, Brooke Stewart
Shalimar - Allyson Johnson, Ansley Walker
All Raider Rhythms dancers receive an NWFSC scholarship. The group performs primarily jazz and hip-hop at the college's basketball games and participates in dance enhanced productions such as Dance Facets and the college's Soundsations Show Choir. The students selected also have the opportunity to study with guest artists and to evaluate their work and the work of others.
For information about the Dance program and other dance opportunities at the college, contact Joseph Taylor at 729-6036.
